From the storied benzoin tree comes a honey-thick extract with cosy, balsamic sweetness—vanilla-nuanced and softly spicy. Beautiful for rounding sharp blends, adding warmth to citrus, and lending a comforting, cocooning aura to evening diffusers (always well-diluted). Traditionally cherished in perfumery and aromatherapy for its soothing, grounding presence.

The benzoin resin is antifungal, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and a mild expectorant. It regenerates the skin and is an excellent healing agent. At a psychic level, it is relaxing, reassuring and anxiolytic.

How to use

Diffuser: 1–4 drops per 200 ml water (or per device directions). (If too thick, pre‑dilute 1:1 in a carrier oil or ethanol before adding.)

Oil burner: Always dilute—fill the dish with water first, then add 1–2 drops.

Room spray: 4–10 drops in 100 ml distilled water + 1 tsp solubiliser; shake before each use. (Pre‑diluting in ethanol helps it disperse.)

Topical (in carrier oil): Face up to 0.5% (about 1 drop per 10–12 ml). Body leave-on up to 1–2% (about 3–6 drops per 10 ml).

Lovely with: bergamot, orange, mandarin, labdanum, frankincense, cedarwood, patchouli, ylang‑ylang, clove (sparingly), cinnamon leaf (sparingly), and lavender.

Safety

For external use only. Do not use neat on the skin. Always dilute and patch test. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Keep away from children and pets; do not apply to the face of infants/young children. If pregnant, nursing, under medical care, or with fragrance sensitivities, seek professional advice. May cause sensitisation in some individuals—use low dilutions and avoid daily, long‑term use.
