From the wind-ruffled grasses of citronella comes a brisk, lemony aroma with soft herbal warmth. This pure, organically sourced essential oil is steam-distilled from the dried leaves/grass and bottled at 10 ml. Diffused for its lemon-green sparkle, citronella is often used to lift the spirit and settle the senses—a wonderful pick for easing the day’s edges. In well-diluted blends, its bright scent is traditionally used to refresh a heavy head, revive tired muscles, and soften feelings of fatigue.

How to use

Diffuser: 3–6 drops per 200 ml water (or per device directions).

Oil burner: Always dilute—fill the dish with water first, then add 1–4 drops.

Room spray: 10–20 drops in 100 ml distilled water + 1 tsp solubiliser (shake before each use).

Topical (in carrier oil): Face 0.5–1% (1–2 drops per 10 ml). Body 1–2% (3–6 drops per 10 ml).

Lovely with lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree, lemongrass, or bergamot.

Safety

External use only. Do not use neat on the skin. Patch test before first use. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Keep away from children and pets. If pregnant, nursing, or under medical care, consult a qualified professional. Some individuals may find the aroma stimulating—use lightly at bedtime. Naturally occurring fragrance allergens (typical of Citronella, Cymbopogon spp.): citronellal, citral (neral/geranial), citronellol, geraniol, limonene, linalool. Trace, batch-dependent: eugenol, farnesol.
